NOW HIRING
Marketing Director
JOB DESCRIPTION
West Morris Capital is an impact investing firm focused on redeveloping neglected properties in Dover NJ and reactivating them as positive contributors to the local economy and community. Our work exists at the intersection of business and social impact, and should feel very rewarding for the right candidate.
We are looking to hire a well-rounded, hands-on “jack-of-all-trades” marketing director to support marketing across all of our operating entities, which include (so far):
-
Dover Sportsplex - Indoor sports facility. www.doversportsplex.com
-
The Amp Arts - Arts creation and education hub. www.theamparts.com
-
Richards Loft - Flexible business suites, co-working, classrooms and meeting rooms. https://www.richardsbuilding-dover.com/richards-loft
-
Richards Mercantile (launching this fall) - Multi-vendor “department store”. https://www.richardsbuilding-dover.com/richards-mercantile
The role will touch on all facets of our marketing, and we are looking for a well-rounded skillset rather than deep skill in one area at the expense of the others. We are happy to hire third-party contractors as needed for things like elaborate design work, high-end photo/video sessions, extensive website redesign, and editing reels.
-
Graphic design - You don’t need to be the world’s most creative or technically skilled graphic designer. We are looking for someone who can put together compelling promotional materials, implement consistent branding and present information in an organized way. We use Canva for easy collaboration, and we like to develop various templates so we aren’t always reinventing the wheel.
-
Content - We strive to use real images and video of our operations in all of our marketing. But, your job isn’t to be the world’s best photographer or reel editor. Your primary goal will be capturing straightforward, authentic content featuring our spaces, staff, customers and products. (And in the case we need to hire someone to capture more elaborate content, you’ll need to guide that process as well.) As important as your ability to capture good content is your ability to keep content organized so it can be utilized effectively across all our marketing.
-
Website management - You will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance of all of our websites. We are less interested in making them fancy and full of bells and whistles, and more interested in creating sites that are easy to navigate, contain useful information, and are efficient at converting prospects into customers. We use Wix and Wordpress to manage our sites.
-
Social Media - We strive for a mix of organic “user-generated” content, flyer-type promotions and more polished posts and reels. You’ll need to implement a posting strategy for multiple entities using appropriate social media management tools, including some flexibility for other staff to post “in the moment”. If you know how to implement Meta paid advertising and Google paid search, it is a big plus. The role will include generating regular reports on outcomes for both paid and organic posts.
-
Email marketing - We need help consolidating and organizing our email lists, and executing a consistent email marketing strategy. Emailing will be a mix of targeted campaigns and more general newsletters. You won’t have to do all the writing yourself, but you should be a clear, concise writer when needed. Familiarity with techniques to improve email deliverability is a big plus.
-
CRM - in addition to using CRM software (GoHighLevel) to manage our email campaigns, we also use it to guide direct selling efforts and create sales “funnels” for specific products. If you are comfortable with managing and configuring CRM workflows, it is a big plus.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
-
Bilingual (strongly preferred) or at least proficient with Spanish-language marketing. We serve many Spanish-speaking customers, so you need to be comfortable targeting audiences in both English and Spanish.
-
Organized, with strong attention to detail. We put a strong emphasis on making sure our marketing is easy to understand, accurate, and consistent across all channels.
-
Self-directed, good at prioritization and comfortable with ambiguity. This is a dynamic operation with lots of moving parts, and you’ll need to be comfortable getting stuff done in that kind of environment.
-
Collaborative yet confident. You’ll almost always be working with other members of the team to complete your projects, including the boss who has a lot of strong thoughts on marketing (not always correct). You’ll need to strike the right balance between flexibility and sticking to your guns.
-
Comfortable with technology. We are small, but we try to adopt technology as much as we can including the various platforms mentioned above. You’ll have a role in shaping our technology choices going forward.
-
Use AI wisely. We are interested in using AI to conduct research, analyze data, automate routine tasks and otherwise improve efficiency, but we put a heavy emphasis on being authentic and human in our marketing, which means we do not want AI acting as a filter to dilute our voice or AI-generated images and video misleading our audience.
This is a full-time position, with competitive salary and benefits. It is expected that most of your work will be in-person at our offices in Dover NJ, with some flexibility for hybrid schedules.
